Circle of Friends Assembly

Human Rights
The intention for this Assembly is to support self and other in creating and using opportunities to apply human rights in every relationship, in every activity, every day.

Religion and Faith Traditions
Any member of this Association may practice and embrace any religion or faith tradition, as long as that practice does not impinge upon anyone’s basic human rights.

Nature
Nature is the vehicle through which the Universe provides for all of us. The time is right to give our attention to the Natural World, express our devotion with direct and constructive action to protect, heal, and restore our Ecosystem.

Truth
The never-ending quest for the greater truth is inseparable from an ethical life and the evolution of our consciousness, our ability to make the best of things. Education to help comprehend reality is fundamental to spiritual, physical, emotional health and well-being.

An important part of membership in this group is that we, as members, tell each other the truth, as best we
each know it. We understand that people can be honestly mistaken. Our goal is to make it safe to tell the truth and eliminate fear of telling and learning truth. As extension and method of our commitment to truth, we aim to provide access to full information. We operate this Association as an educational facility for members of all ages.

Family Life
Family relationships are precious and can be vulnerable to internal and external sources of stress. To make the best conditions for families to thrive, we can make deliberate choices about what we do. Fidelity within marriage as of very high importance.
When we recognize a union of marriage, this is not only a commitment between the two wedded people, but an agreement with all members of the assembly, to support and not compete with each other’s marriages, both legal and common law.

It is possible and preferable to be married and raise children without violence or intimidation. None of us has done this perfectly, so far. We use the model that violence or oppression within the family is like a disease that people catch, usually from parents, or other persons in authority. This model holds that there is a huge and important difference between the disease, and the person who has the disease. Punishing the person does not cure the disease. In fact, there is every indication that punishment makes the disease worse.

Our model for enabling the road to recovery from the disease of family violence and oppression is to empower individuals to own their own voice and make authentic choice; applying basic human rights as components of flexible intelligent response.

Dancing and Music
Music and dance is a necessary food for the soul. The Community space is available to members for music and parties.

Play
Peace and enjoyment within the family is made better by adding peer relationships from outside the family. Making
opportunity for peer fellowship is a central function of this assembly. People need to have fun with others who are peers.
As well, getting the entire assembly together for meals and group play is a priority. A central goal of this assembly is to set up for playful experiences for people of all ages. The Community building and grounds are always open and available to members for getting together. Creating a collection of resources, games and equipment for sport or for developing interest groups is a central function of this Association.

Society
We, as members of this Assembly, affirm the central importance of human rights to free speech and expression, free worship, free assembly, privacy, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and the other rights listed in our national Bill of Rights as important guidelines not just for law, but for everyday living.

We, collectively and individually, take our place in society as vehicles of evolving Consciousness, and in so doing we offer ourselves as providers of human services to the members of our assembly, and as we can manage, to the general population at large.
